They already have the sexiest job of the 21st century according to a Harvard Business Review article by Tom Davenport and D.J. Patil. Now, it turns out, data scientists also have a great sense of humor. Who knew?

INFORMS Conference set for San Diego

Situated on the famed San Diego waterfront, the brand new Hilton San Diego hotel and San Diego Convention Center will be the sites for what promises to be an exciting and eventful INFORMS Annual Meeting Oct. 11-14. The conference them is “INFORMing the Globe.”
The conference will offer plenty of opportunities for networking at the Welcome Reception on Sunday, a multitude of intimate receptions to choose from on Monday evening and the General Reception on Tuesday evening at the famous SeaWorld Adventure Park (with a private evening Shamu Show for INFORMS attendees).
The four days will be packed with plenaries, tutorials, research seminars and networking opportunities to further common interests. While in San Diego be sure to avail yourself of the many recreational opportunities in this sunny city on the Pacific Ocean.
Plenary and keynote speakers include: QUALCOMM founder Irwin Jacobs, Richard Larson, Thomas Magnanti and Yossi Sheffi of MIT, Christopher Tang of UCLA and Omega Rho Distinguish Lecturer Karel Lenstra of the Eindhoven University of Technology. More than 20 tutorials are also planned.
Many plant tours and excursions are scheduled, including a tour of Balboa Park and the famous San Diego Zoo. The Hilton and Convention Center are within walking distance of the world-renowned USS Midway, the beautiful Seaport Village and Coronado Island.
